Overview
Richard Weinman is a Partner in the firm's litigation and business practice departments. He practices mainly in the areas of commercial and business litigation, and matters involving contracts, creditor's rights, real estate, businesses and ownership/shareholder disputes. Richard also serves as outside general counsel to businesses, corporations, and nonprofit organizations, advising on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, and business succession planning.
Richard's clients include corporations and LLCs, their shareholders, members, directors or managers, as well as individuals, financial institutions including the FDIC, and purchasers/sellers of real estate and business interests. Richard is particularly adept at identifying practical and efficient resolutions for his clients, without protracted and disruptive litigation. In cases where a resolution proved unavailable, he has successfully obtained judgments for plaintiffs or defended clients in numerous multi-million dollar legal actions in state, federal, bankruptcy and appellate courts throughout Florida.
Prior to rejoining the firm in 2009, Richard served as Assistant Vice President and Division Counsel at Fidelity National Information Services (FIS), a Fortune 500 financial services company, where he provided in-house legal counsel to multiple divisions. In that role, he managed federal and state regulatory investigations and enforcement actions, oversaw litigation including contract disputes, consumer claims, and class actions, drafted and negotiated commercial and vendor contracts, and developed compliance policies and procedures. Before beginning his career, Richard served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Elizabeth A. Kovachevich, U.S. District Court Judge. He was born in Winter Park, Florida.
