Overview
Chris Batts is an associate attorney practicing in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, and bankruptcy. His work includes helping business owners navigate the sales of their businesses and advising them on a wide range of corporate matters, including exit strategies, incentive planning, corporate structuring, and risk allocation. He has also written and presented on business topics including the Corporate Transparency Act and key considerations for negotiating a letter of intent for the sale of a business.
A native Floridian, Chris was born and raised in Winter Park where he was an active volunteer with non-profit organizations devoted to poverty alleviation, including The Salvation Army and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
Chris received his J.D., magna cum laude, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law where he was inducted as a member of the Order of the Coif legal honor society. In addition, he served as Managing Editor of The Ohio State Law Journal and as Research Assistant to Professor Arthur F. Greenbaum. He received his B.A. in Finance, with honors, from Cedarville University in Ohio where he was CFO of the Student Government Association.
His experience includes serving as a Judicial Intern for Justice Sharon L. Kennedy of the Ohio Supreme Court in Columbus, Ohio, and as an intern with the U.S. House of Representatives for former U.S. House Speaker, John Boehner, in Washington, D.C. He is a member of The Florida Bar.
