
Nancy S. Freeman is a shareholder with the law firm of Winderweedle, Haines, Ward & Woodman, P.A., practicing in the firm’s Winter Park office. She practices in the firm's Estates and Trusts practice area, counseling clients on estate planning matters and representing clients with regard to estate and trust administration and probate. Ms. Freeman is also a member of the firm's Corporate, Intellectual Property and Real Estate practice areas.
She is certified as a specialist in the area of Wills, Trusts & Estates by the Board of Legal Education and Specialization of the Florida Bar. She is currently Chair of the Wills, Trusts & Estates Certification Committee of the Florida Bar (2006-present) and previously was Vice Chair of the Committee (2004-2006). Ms. Freeman also served as Chair of the Estate, Guardianship & Trust Committee of the Orange County Bar Association (2002-2003). From 1993 to 2001 Ms. Freeman sat on the Editorial Board of the Florida Bar News & Journal. She is also a member of the Florida Bar Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section.
Ms. Freeman attended Duke University where she received her B.A., graduating with honors in 1989. She obtained her J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law where she graduated with high honors in 1992 and received the Order of the Coif. While a student at the University of Florida College of Law, she was an Appellate Advocacy Teaching Fellow and Evidence Teaching Assistant (1991). She also served as the Senior Articles Editor for Florida Law Review (1991-1992). Ms. Freeman has authored numerous continuing legal education articles on topics related to estate planning, probate, trust administration, and health care advance directives.
From 1992-1993 Ms. Freeman was a Law Clerk for the Honorable Peter T. Fay, United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit, 1992-1993. In 1993, she joined Winderweedle, Haines, Ward & Woodman and later became an Assistant Professor of Law at Barry University School of Law (1997-1999). In 1999 Ms. Freeman rejoined the firm and has practiced continuously since.
