
J. Jeffrey Deery is a shareholder with the law firm of Winderweedle, Haines, Ward & Woodman, P.A., practicing in the firm’s Orlando office. Mr. Deery serves on the firm’s management committee as its Chief Development Officer. He practices in the firm’s litigation practice area, representing corporate and individual clients in business disputes throughout Florida. Mr. Deery is also a member of the firm’s banking, bankruptcy, and securities practice areas. He has received Martindale Hubbell’s highest rating, “AV”. Mr. Deery was selected for the 25th anniversary edition of Best Lawyers In America under the " Banking Law" category.
Mr. Deery is admitted to appear in the circuit and district courts of appeal throughout the State of Florida, including the Florida Supreme Court. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts in the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida, as well as the United States 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association, and the Orange County Bar Association. Mr. Deery serves on the Ninth Judicial Circuit’s Lawyer Grievance Committee. He is also active in the Turnaround Management Association and the Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association. In the past, Mr. Deery has been honored for his service on the Board of Governors of the Florida Bar, Young Lawyers Division, and as Outstanding Committee Chair of the Orange County Bar Association’s Litigation/Trial Practice Committee (1996-1997). Mr. Deery was admitted to the Bar in 1990.
Mr. Deery was born in Orlando, Florida on November 11, 1964. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987 and from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1990. While in law school, Mr. Deery served on the Moot Court Board, both as a member of the ABA Competition Team and as a third year director. He was an “Americas United” scholarship recipient. Mr. Deery has been a speaker at various civic events and has been a guest lecturer to graduating students at the University of Florida.
Mr. Deery is active in a number of civic and educational organizations. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Central Florida YMCA and is past Chairman of the Board of the Winter Park YMCA. He has also served as President of the Winter Park Racquet Club. Mr. Deery is active as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board to the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University. He also serves on the fund-raising committee for Rollins College Athletics. In 2006, he was awarded the national Jefferson award for outstanding community service.
